spring 2011 runway: the good, the fads, and the fabulous

This Spring 2011 Fashion Week season, I have my eye on the accessories, which catch my eyes all too much this season. Starting with Prada, I'm taking you through THE GOOD, THE FADS, AND THE FABULOUS!
The Prada had some of the quirkiest coolest accessories you could ever see, and yet again I simply fell in love with the glasses. And yet again, Prada doesn't fail to impress me. And I love my long hair so very much but that amazing shortie haircut is possibly the best hair I've seen in this season.

fall trend report: part four

.....isn't it?
This trend was more frequent at the French designer shows, such as Celine or Chloe. In the picture above, models strut their stuff at Chloe in plain camels and beiges, with the simplest touches that work well. No wonder the silk button down has become so popular, it's one of the key pieces to pull off that amazing minimalist look.
And it looks like that you don't have to put away all-denim like this Spring, because the denim look has been passed from the Spring runway to Fall.
Don't think that you just simply need a new accessory for an outfit, a sensible belt and camel trench coat do the trick, doesn't it?

fall trend report: part three

hello all, back again with the third fall trend report of mine. this one issssss

FUR! but don't be fooled, you can have the reals or deck yourself out in fake. And the fake isn't just the economical version of the trend, faux fur was spotted at chanel, mind you. so even if you are protective of animal rights, don't hesitate to put on a little faux fur. or if you're just one to keep up with the fall trends, try on some reals, if you have the dough.
so, didn't think the eskimo could be fashionable with the wave of lagerfeld's wand {and not even metaphorically, i'm under the impression he can work loads of magic...a fashionable dumbeldore, maybe?}? This fall is very unpredictable, mind you. The underestimated are overestimated this season, no doubt.

fall trend report: part two

and here comes part two of my fantastically annual fall trend report. so this trend, i must say, is possibly an all-time favorite trend of mine coming this fall. layers is an amazing trend but i adore this one. and this post's trend isssssss...

yes, this is the new 50s ladies who lunch, quirky librarian trend. this season curves are being embraced with cutsey belts, so someone's curvy figure is truly an advantage. and of course big skirts, nerdy chic prints, and frills are what wearing dresses is all about this season. you can't go wrong with a ladylike dress and some red lipstick! so ditch those retro glam mini skirts and raid your librarian's wardrobe. sounds like a party to me.
as for accessories, accessories are quite open this season. you don't need to have an "it bag" and you certainly don't need to splurge on some pricey jewels that every magazine claims to be worth every penny because this season all that needs to be done is a good look in the back of your closet to reevaluate those cable knit socks or headbands from your blair waldorf wannabee stage because those accessories are easily reinvented this season. i know i'm going to beg to fail my eye test at my next doctor's visit just so I can get my hands on those epicly awesome prada eyebrow glasses. you'd never think that those librarians or old women were actually ahead of your time when it came to style....

fall trend report: part one

fall is like the september of fashion, when you throw out last season's miu mius and welcome in the latest it bag or splurge on that prada dress your dying to have. so, of course, everyone who has the slightest involvement in fashion sorts through those fall runway pictures as statement of advice. so part one of my fall trend report will be devoted to {drum roll!}...

that's right ladies! one of fall's many trends includes textures and layers, the trend that is stylish and very reasonable, too, as you don't have to freeze to death in those sequined minis or those used-to-die-for leggings because all you have to do is keep layering on those knit scarves. this is a message from the fashion gods: this trend is especially for those new yorkers! because the winter here can be pretty brutal, especially when you're going christmas shopping and it's below freezing so you just can't wait to get into the heated saks fifth avenue for some gossip over hot chocolate at their chocolate cafe or try on those YSL leopard stilettos. so now you don't have to be the only one that isn't in a sleek trench coat, everyone will be wearing to-die-for layers that are the warmest things you could wear and also are veryyyyyyyy fashion-forward. fear not, this trend is comfortable and stylish.

the street style muses

although models serve as muses for their designers they model for, they also serve as inspirations for street style. sometimes there are certain knit scarves or loose-fitting jackets that you staple with one big "NO" when you're sorting through what to wear during the day, but when you see models where some of the quirkiest cute things you ever seen and wish "boy, wouldn't it be nice to have a scarf like that.." when i turns out you do. it's just lying around in the back of your closet, bored and unworn.
models can make the most ordinary and old things look magical and trend-setting, like that scarf your grandma bought for you just went down the runway. sometimes you think that wearing a piece of clothing will look hideously nerdy on you, when paired right you can look like one of those first row fashion week guests.
sometimes take a risk and when you see the next street style muse in her gorgeous clothing, you'll have a reason to say that you set trends.
"ha ha, chanel iman is wearing that leather jacket that you thought was last season!"
yes, i love rubbing it in to my friends too.

the chanel philosophy

why is it that chanel stores are as beautiful as their runways? there are certain stores that have a cheesy, cliche look that tries to look cool, hipster, or whatever...but then there's chanel stores. above all designer stores, chanel has this elegance that looks like the shop was made by world famous architects and that every day to them is like a runway show. every day, ever second of the open and closed duration of a chanel shop, it's like a show is on. even if none of the clothing is moving, things look like one big beautiful show to me at a chanel shop.

you can't compare any store to chanel.

dsm e-shop

i have had absolutely nothing to write for the past could days it is inadequate that i don't continue writing. i check style.com every morning AND every night, and the end of july i always have this feeling that there's nothing that important going on in fashion. the end of july is the time where i experiment the most (i experiment all summer but particularly at this time of year). since i am bored out of my mind about reading about blake lively having the best hair in hollywood (WE KNOW ALREADY!) and the history of bronzing (which, quite frankly, i'm sick of hearing "use THIS fake tanner" or "THIS fake tanner will give you an even better glow then the sun!" i'm just going to tan in the sun like a normal person, okay? SPF 15, all the way!), i always take the time to look around at street style and make my own interpretation of it. last night, though, my brother (GASP! HE LIKE KARL LAGERFELD TOO!) sent me this amazing website from a london boutique called dover street market, and most specifically comme de garcon. you can check out the store here:
